This policy explains what information ScholarSeed collects through its website and learning application, how it is used, and the choices you have. ScholarSeed is operated by Jorge Luis Cazares in Massachusetts. For privacy questions or requests, email support@scholarseed.com.
Our commitments
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use student information for advertising, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
- We use student information only to teach, run the program, and support the student and their family.
- We will not publish a student’s name, image, scores, or testimonial without separate permission from the student, and from a parent or guardian for a student under 18.
Information you provide
- Account information: username, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), account role, and settings such as your color palette.
- Terms acceptance: the version of our Terms you agreed to and when.
- Learning goals: answers from sign-up, such as target and previous SAT Math scores, whether you have taken the SAT, and your preferred university.
- Profile: optional details you add, such as a name, biography, or profile picture.
- Parent accounts: parent name, email, password hash, and links to associated students.
- Communications: messages you send us, including enrollment questions and guarantee claims with their score reports.
- Webinar registration: email address, timezone, and registration status.
Learning activity
When a signed-in student works through lessons, we record answers, whether they were correct, submission times, progress, scores, mistakes, attempts, and time spent. We use this to deliver and grade lessons, show progress, confirm program completion (including for the Score Guarantee), and improve our teaching.
During account-based lessons, the lesson page also records how many times the student switched tabs, when the page gained or lost focus, and how many times copy or paste was used. We never read clipboard contents. These signals help us understand how a student worked through a lesson. They are not collected in public sample lessons.
Public sample lessons do not save anything to an account. Sample attempts are held temporarily in server memory and expire after two hours.
Technical information and browser storage
The application stores your sign-in token and account settings in your browser’s local storage so you stay signed in; logging out removes them. We use IP addresses to limit abuse and to run Cloudflare Turnstile security checks, which send your IP address and a verification token to Cloudflare. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs to operate and secure the Service.
We do not use analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy first.
Who can see your information
Profiles are private. Your profile page is visible only to you and to ScholarSeed administrators. The administrator (currently the operator) can view student accounts, progress, attempts, and submissions to teach, support, and administer the program. A parent or guardian who enrolls a student may receive information about that student’s progress.
Service providers
We share information only with providers that help us run the Service, and only for that purpose:
- Vercel (website hosting), Render (application hosting), and MongoDB Atlas (database);
- Amazon Web Services: Simple Email Service for account email and S3 for uploaded images;
- Cloudflare Turnstile for security checks;
- our business email provider, for messages sent to our addresses;
- Zoom, for consultations and office hours. We do not record these sessions;
- a payment processor, when paid enrollment is set up. It handles card details directly; we never see or store full card numbers.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a student or others. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries.
How long we keep information
- Accounts, profiles, and progress: kept while the account is open, and deleted after you ask us to delete the account.
- Detailed lesson-session records (including the focus and copy/paste signals above): deleted automatically after 90 days. Progress and completion records are kept longer, because they confirm program completion for the Score Guarantee.
- Guarantee claims and payment records: kept as long as needed to handle the claim and meet tax and accounting obligations.
- Email abuse-prevention records: deleted automatically 30 days after the last attempt.
Deleted information may remain in provider backups until those backups expire on the provider’s normal schedule.
Your choices and rights
You can edit your profile and settings in your account. To access, correct, or delete your information, or to delete your account, email support@scholarseed.com from the email address on the account. A parent or guardian may make these requests for their child. We may ask for information to confirm your identity or authority, and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
ScholarSeed is for students aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email support@scholarseed.com and we will delete it.
Security
We protect information with password hashing, encrypted connections, and access controls that limit administrative access. No online service can be perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.
Changes to this policy
The date at the top shows the current version. If we make a material change to how we use personal information, we will notify account holders by email or in the application before it takes effect, and ask for consent where the law requires it.
